The Henderson High School community is seeking a new Principal to continue driving our strong strategic vision and academic success.

Located near the centre of Henderson, West Auckland, Henderson High School provides for just under 1100 students from Year 9 to Year 13, with a growing roll. The board and staff celebrate the mix of cultures in our student community and their families, with particular acknowledgment of our Māori and Pacific students who together make up almost half of our student whānau.

Henderson High School’s vision is that we will empower all our students with the knowledge to succeed and change their world for the better. Professional learning for our highly qualified teachers has focused on implementing a knowledge-rich curriculum so that all our students have the same opportunities for meaningful pathways to their future. An understanding of cognitive science has guided the interactive explicit approach to instruction in a warm and demanding environment which ensures students have the clarity and confidence to learn.

• Demonstrates an understanding of Henderson and the West Auckland community and is committed to building genuine and respectful connections with students, whānau and the wider community
• Has current in-depth pedagogical knowledge of Knowledge Rich Curriculum, Direct Instruction, and can lead professional learning
• Values staff expertise and knows how to strengthen wellbeing through focussed professional development and support.
• Knows how to integrate the principles and practices of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori in all aspects of the school in a way that promotes diversity and enhances our inclusive culture
• Has proven experience as an effective educational leader with a strong track record of integrity and competence in all areas of responsibility
