Our Story

Ka mua, ka muri - See the Way Forward - A knowledgeable, highly skilled and responsive team that makes a positive difference

The Education Group was established in 2004 and is based in Auckland. It grew out of a valued professional relationship between the directors over many years and well established and highly credible reputations as education researchers and consultants.

The Directors are Jan Hill, Nicky Knight, Julie Schumacher, Rowan Johanson and Sarah Hynds. Kay Hawk and Roween Higgie are Associate Directors. We work across the education sector from early childhood to tertiary. We have three Consultants; Kerry Mitchell, David Ellery and Lizzie Bayliss who bring a range of expertise and specialist skills, and two Structured Literacy Partners, Sandra Titchener and Kate Birch. Most of our mahi is focused in primary and secondary schools in Auckland and throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

We combine a strong academic and professional network, access to the latest research and literature, skills, knowledge and experience in educational leadership, research, coaching, pedagogy, evaluation and curriculum.
