The Role

Te Matauranga School, Clendon, Auckland
Deputy Principal

Relationships at the heart. Learning at the centre.

Are you a leader who sees potential in every child and knows how to bring out the best in others?

Te Matauranga is seeking a Deputy Principal who will bring strong educational leadership, warmth and a sense of possibility to our kura. Working alongside our Principal and leadership team, you will help strengthen teaching and learning, grow staff capability and lead improvements that make a difference for tamariki.

We are a diverse and inclusive primary school of approximately 310 learners. Our community includes Fetūlele, our Samoan Bilingual Unit extending through to Years 7–8, and three Rosehill School satellite classes. We value every learner’s identity, language and culture, and share a simple belief: no child should stand alone.

Our next Deputy Principal will be approachable and actively involved in school life. You will listen carefully, communicate clearly and build trusting relationships with tamariki, staff and whānau. You will lead with courage and kindness, supporting others while maintaining high expectations.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven leadership experience and strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment and effective teaching.
  • Develops teachers and leaders through coaching, collaboration and constructive feedback.
  • Upholds Te Tiriti o Waitangi and champions culturally responsive practice.
  • Strengthens inclusion, wellbeing and belonging.
  • Uses evidence to guide improvement and evaluate its impact.
  • Turns priorities into clear actions, supported by effective organisation and communication.

At Te Matauranga, wonder inspires learning. We welcome questions, encourage ideas and want our learners and staff to have the confidence to explore what is possible.

If this sounds like your kind of school, we will welcome your application.
